JEREMY PILKERTON CROWNED 2023 VP RACING PRESENTS WEEKEND WARRIOR RACING POWERED BY FASTRAK
Richmond, KY - The VP Racing presents Weekend Warrior Racing powered by FASTRAK Racing went down to the final two races of the 2023 season, both hosted at Richmond Raceway. Jeremy Pilkerton of Loveville, MD went into that weekend with the point lead and a 15-point cushion over second place driver Luke Hyre of Rock Cave, VA.
With the last two point earning events being $5000 to win FASTRAK Touring Series events, the competition level was elevated to a higher level. Thirty-three of the region’s top competitors signed in for the Damn Yankees 50 weekend. On night one, Pilkerton would add four more points on to his lead with a fifth-place finish and Hyre finishing ninth.
On night two Pilkerton went into the night not only with the VP Racing presented Weekend Warrior Racing powered by FASTRAK, but also the point lead in the FASTRAK Touring Series powered by Chevrolet Performance, adding to the pressure. Disaster almost struck for Pilkerton, as issues with his fan blade caused his car to not perform at 100%. But, Pilkerton was able to finish the race in nineteenth with Hyre finishing eleventh.
With a nineteen-point lead heading into the final night, Pilkerton had enough of a cushion to be crowned the 2023 VP Racing presents Weekend Warrior Racing powered by FASTRAK National Champion, finishing twelve points ahead of Hyre. Pilkerton would finish second in the FASTRAK Touring Series points, four points behind Colby Quick of Salisbury, NC.
Finishing behind Pilkerton in the national points were Luke Hyre, Noah Whited, Chandi Currence, Dave Loudin, Ronald Pyles, Billy Hubbard, Bud Stinson, Davis Lipscombe, and Curtis Hughes rounding out the top 10.
Tenth trough twentieth are Matt Ashworth, Tyler Dettor, Chad Green, Garrett Donnell, Dalton Goode, Chuck Bowie, Nick Davis, William Baker, Brent Trimble, and Garret Paugh.
