LATE MODEL MANIA AT THE DIRT TRACK AT CHARLOTTE POSTPONED; DATE TO BE DETERMINED
“Late Model Mania” At The Dirt Track At Charlotte Postponed, Date To Be Determined
Carnesville, Georgia - The staffs of FASTRAK Companies Inc and the Dirt Track at Charlotte have agreed to postpone the June 18-19, 2021, “Late Model Mania” to a date to be announced later in 2021. The postponement stems from the current tire shortage affecting tracks, series, and sanctions around the country.
“In consideration of tire shortages across the country, we don’t have any choice other than to postpone this event until a later date” said Stan Lester of FASTRAK AND ULTIMATE SERIES. “We appreciate the staff at Charlotte being willing to work with us on holding the event and the last thing we wanted to do was postpone, but to be fair to all competitors it’s the right thing to do”.
“I have to consider our weekly tracks and teams” stated Lester. “They depend on us to take care of them and with an extremely limited supply left at the Hoosier warehouse, our tracks need to be taken care of first, then we worry about the tours. FT crate spec tires are scheduled to be built in July, so they have to last until that time.”
The tire shortage is nothing more than the results of the pandemic and supply issues. Hoosier Tire is working night and day to resolve the shortages in both dirt and asphalt tires. There is not a series/sanction that has not been affected by this shortage. The lack of raw materials to produce the tires has been the leading cause of the shortage, along with the restrictions in the labor force over the last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lester continued, “they (Hoosier) are the last people that want to run out of tires and it’s a very unique situation for them as well. A lot of things have been challenging since this pandemic. I have had engine builders call saying they cannot get parts. I know crate engines were behind at one time, sheets of aluminum are in short supply and aluminum wheels are hard to get and that’s just the items I’ve heard about.”
The thought by all parties is that by postponing the event until later in 2021 it will let Hoosier catch their breathe a little with the resumption of production. Hoosier is scheduled to return to producing our tires in July. It is hoped that after that time the shortages will be a thing of the past.
“It is a tough situation to be in. But if we have learned anything the last year and half, it is that we have to expect the unexpected. We were really building some momentum for this event. but we will just figure out a date and reschedule it. Hopefully, they can get the tire situation rectified soon,” commented ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Director Kelley Carlton.
The staff at FASTRAK, ULTIMATE, and Charlotte are working together on a rescheduled date for the “All Late Model” event. Once a date is found, it will be released to the public and teams so that they are able to make plans to be in attendance.
“I do want to reiterate how much I appreciate the Dirt Track at Charlotte staff working with us through all this. I cannot wait to see an “all” late model weekend at the Dirt Track soon,” commented Lester.
