Lee Cooper: 2008 Year in Review
FASTRAK Racing Series
Carnesville,GA (Nov-28) In March, as the 2008 FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Touring Series was set to begin, Lee Cooper, of Greer SC was in similar company with all of the drivers under the FASRAK Late Model Series banner in 2008; this was going to be his year. This of course, was the thinking of hundreds of drivers who concluded the FASTRAK Late Model Series offered the three things racers love the most; a chance to win, competition, and plenty of Benjamin’s.
Each spring, the woes of seasons passed are forgotten. The wrecks, blown engines, and broken shock mounts from the season before are a distant memory. Race car drivers have the opportunity to look upon the start of a new season with a level of excitement and enthusiasm many of us have not experienced since the end of our high school or college athletic careers.

“Out of the Crate” GM Engines Take Top 3 Positions
FASTRAK Racing Series
Carnesville, GA (Nov-11) Not only did the 2008 edition of the FASTRAK Racing Series GRAND NATIONALS produce the exciting racing that has become the staple of the FASTRAK Racing Series, the 2008 GRAND NATIONALS also showcased how intent the Series is in maintaining the level playing field environment the Series was founded on. For the sake of those who might not follow the FASTRAK Racing Series regularly, crossing under the checkers first is only a part of the equation in being declared the winner of a FASTRAK Racing Series event. After each and every event, FASTRAK Racing Series officials instruct the Top 5 finishers to go directly to the scales. Any delay or unauthorized stops along the way result in automatic disqualification. The Top 5 finishers are not necessarily the only drivers whose cars may be under scrutiny. FASTRAK officials have been known to randomly select other cars as well. Naturally, with $50,000 going to the winner of the 2008 GRAND NATIONALS, the winning car of Royce Bray was going to be under the microscope, but so to, were the cars of Shannon Buckingham, Jonathan Davenport and Ron Parker respectively. Each car would have the engines removed from the cars and a complete teardown of each- right down to weighing the crankshaft would ensue, affirming 100% compliance of the FASTRAK Racing Series Rulebook. - Read More

2008 Points Battle Shows Strength of FASTRAK Racing Series
Closest Points Battle of Any Series in the Nation?
Carnesville, GA (Nov-3) Although the various methods by which the success any racing series has enjoyed throughout the 2008 racing season is virtually limitless, the motorsports world is still a world where the adage “the numbers don’t lie “still apply. While the jury is still out on the overall health of the short track racing industry as a whole in 2008, a measurable amount of effort is not required when assessing the kind of season the FASTRAK Racing Series enjoyed in 2008. One only has to look as far as the final FASTRAK Racing Series City Chevrolet Weekly Racing Division point standings to begin to understand the magnitude of how deeply entrenched the FASTRAK Racing Series brand has become in terms of being an identifiable part of the racing worlds mainstream. Some of the names seen on entry forms at numerous touring events throughout the nation are indicative as well of just how important the FASTRAK Racing Series has become in shaping the face of racings major leagues in the ‘not so distant future’.

Royce Bray Wins The Big Prize
2008 FASTRAK Racing Series GRAND NATIONALS
Rural Retreat, VA (Oct-18) There’s no question about it, Royce Bray did everything right including something very difficult for any driver during a race; Keep one eye on the big picture. Lap after lap Bray fought with David Smith, Shannon Buckingham and Dale Ball for over 2/3’s of the scheduled distance of 50 laps. With Dick Barton not in the Grand Finale, Bray’s closest competitors for the $50,000 and 2008 FASTRAK Racing Series GRAND NATIONALS Championship were Ed Dixon, Ron Parker, Chris Steele and Shannon Buckingham. With no communication with his crew, Bray had no way of knowing where his closest competitors were in the running order.
