FASTRAK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AND WORLD CHALLENGE FIELD EXPANDED TO 30 CARS

CARNESVILLE, GA - When the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance rolls into Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Speedway for the 2018 FASTRAK World Championship weekend more cars will have their shot at the $20,000 payday on September 15th. Continuing what started at the 2018 USA 100 at the Jamaica, VA track, 30 cars will start the feature for both the FASTRAK World Challenge and FASTRAK World Championship.

“With the popularity of Pro Late Models and the number of cars at the weekly tracks, it has enabled us to expand the field to 30 cars,” said Bill Sawyer, owner of Virginia Motor Speedway.

The expansion of the field will allow for 6 more cars to take the green flag each night of the weekend. Positions 25-30 will receive $250 each on Friday, September 14th for the 40-lap, $5,000 to win FASTRAK World Challenge. Those same positions will each receive $500 for the 60-lap, $20,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship.

At least one consolation race will be added to the 2018 FASTRAK World Championship, giving even more drivers the opportunity to race for purse money. The number of consolation races will be based on car count, and the purse for the consolation race will be announced in the coming weeks.

“We had already announced the addition of consolation races, to give more drivers the opportunity to race for purse money,” said FASTRAK General Manager, DJ Irvine, “Adding six cars to the starting field follows that same philosophy of giving more drivers the chance to race for money.”

The FASTRAK World Championship weekend is the richest weekend in all of Chevrolet Performance Late Model racing, and the expanded fields will add $4,500 in purse money. That total will continue to rise once the consolation race purse is announced. The rain date for the 2018 FASTRAK World Championship is Sunday, September 16th.

The 2019 FASTRAK World Championship will pay an unprecedented $50,000 to win and $2,050 to start, with a total purse of over $150,000 for the Saturday night feature alone.

LUKON OUTLAST BAILES AND DOHM TO TAKE FASTRAK'S INAUGURAL $7000 TO WIN "GREAT AMERICAN CRATE RACE" AT TYLER COUNTY SPEEDWAY

FASTRAK Companies International – By Wesley Outland

MIDDLEBOURNE, WV - The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance continued their weekend double header after the successful Charlie Mize Memorial July 4th at Lavonia, GA Speedway returning back to "America's Baddest Bullring" Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV for the Inaugural $7000 to win #GreatAmericanCrateRace in front of a capacity crowd in the Mid Ohio Valley of "wild and wonderful' West Virginia.

The night would get kicked off 39 drivers from 8 states from Pennsylvania to Florida in action around the 1/4 mile under pristine weather conditions, sunny skies and low 80's greeted the fans and teams as the action was absolutely phenomenal, when the evening concluded it was the #184 from Burgettstown, PA of Kyle Lukon to score the biggest win in his racing career so far taking the $7000 Great American Crate Race. Heat racing action would get the evening kicked off for the show and saw #6 Dillon Brown, #79 Ross Bailes, #39 Henry Hornsby and #25 Zack Dohm take the action. #12 Daryl Charlier and #0 Troy Frazier would go on to take the very eventual 12 lap last chance B-Main races, provisionals of the 12th row would go to #184d Derek Doll and #12 Ryan Payne for the 39 car field dwindled down to 24 of the best in pro late model racing for the inaugural event. After the spectacular FIREWORKS display and the 4 wide salute with the drivers waving the "old glory" to officially put a close the independence day weekend and the race was on for $7000 dollars at Tyler County Speedway.

The initial start would ensue THE BIG ONE when #17 Trey Watson got turned entering turn four blocking the path and piling in several top contenders including, #7 Corey Almond, #75 Brett Hamm, #44 12 Ryan Payne and #184 Derek Doll. The call was made that the #17 Watson was the start of the wreck being sent to the rear. On the second attempt of green the race would kick off with #79 Ross Bailes taking the hole shot pulling away from the pole car of #6 Dillon Brown. The field would get slowed with 10 laps in after the #75 Brett Hamm limped off the pace off turn four and dropped to the bottom of the track then the top surface, this caused the #184 of Derek Doll in his Rockket chassis to plow hard into the rear end of Hamm's Longhorn chassis helping assist the car to the infield. Caution would come out again after #17 Trey Watson would stall then spin exiting turn three. All the while Bailes would be the man out in front try the best he could to maneuver lap traffic and open up the lead on Brown, Lukon, Dohm and others.

Just after the halfway mark the Rocket of Lukon would make his move for the lead, he'd sneak as Bailes got hung out by lap traffic entering turn one to take her three wide using the lap car as a pick for the P1 spot. Lukon would lead for just about a handful of laps until Bailes was able to return the favor using lap traffic to take the top spot back. The racing in the back of the pack was intense through the entire field as they we're 3-4 wide and yes even 5 wide for the positions around "the bullring". With Lukon back to the whip on the back stretch, he'd make his move just like Lukon to take the top spot back for the lead.

The final caution would come out causing a 6 lap shootout for the finish in the $7000 to win event with the fans on their feet loving the action , Lukon would force one final move to take the lead boxed in by lap traffic that allowed Bailes to get stuck up top and Lukon would take the lead for the final time making it the biggest win of his FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance in his career coming off the FASTRAK weekly track win at Elkins, WV Raceway Friday evening and the defending track champion of "America's Baddest Bullring".

Bailes would then hold off the hard charge efforts by #25 Zack Dohm, #55 Matt Long and #13 Jacob Hawkins to round out the top five when the field roared to the checkered flag to put a closure of the 4th of July weekend 2018 for the best pro late models drivers, from Georgia to West Virginia entertaining the crowd to giving them a standing ovation at night's end.

PENNINGTON CAPTURES $2000 TO WIN 7TH ANNUAL FASTRAK CHARLIE MIZE MEMORIAL ON A HOT WEDNESDAY AT THE "NEW" LAVONIA SPEEDWAY

FASTRAK Companies International – By Wesley Outland

LAVONIA, GA - Many people celebrate barbecues and swimming to enjoy the 4th of July, (the celebration of our nations independence). Well for the competitors of the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance, celebrates America's holiday with the 7th Annual Charlie Mize Memorial Race with the $2000 to win feature which pays tribute yearly to the 5 time FASTRAK Southeast champion David Smith's Grandfather, who was also a respected track promoter/announcer. The series' only mid-week show for the 2018 season happened in front of a great enthusiastic crowd at the 3/8th mile Lavonia Speedway in Georgia. When the evening concluded it was on a HOT summer night #01 Travis Pennington taking the $2000 payday before taking the family to Disney World for the weekend capturing the 7th Annual Charlie Mize Memorial.

The #01 Longhorn chassis of Travis Pennington was the fastest qualifier turned a 16.191 second lap around the 3/8th mile to be the over VP Racing Fuels QUICKTIME Group Qualifying to lock himself up the top spot for the 30 lap $2000 to win feature, the decision was made in a effort of prolonging the evening after being outside in the close to 100 degree summer temperatures to get fans and teams home at a decent show to just hotlap, qualify and run the feature. After the patriotic fireworks display and 4 wide salute to the fans the stage was set for the 7th edition of the Charlie Mize Memorial tribute race and round #6 for the season.

The race would get underway with Pennington and Dale Timms battling side by side for the holeshot, after the drivers made contact off turn two they both kept going straight and Pennington would take the top spot in the early going. The Longhorn was really strong and would sail away from the field by open almost 6 seconds on the top pack. Great racing would also ensue between #88 Trent Ivey and #07 Dale Timms racing hard side by side for the runner up position. Also #75 of Newberry, SC Brett Hamm started the race in midpack and would begin to make a rally to the front. The one and only caution would come out on lap 19 with just 11 laps to go when the #54 Justin Wofford would spin on his own exiting turn two. The Lognhorn of Wofford's would sustain damage and have to go behind the wall. On the restart after the 'choose rule' Pennington would have to hold off all comers on the late race restart with Timms, Hamm and even Ivey right there hot on his heels. Another great battle happened with current FASTRAK Southeast Touring points leader #4 Matthew Nance and #1c Kenny Collins banging sheet metal and fenders hostile for the top five.

Timms would try all he could muster to make a late rally to get to the Pennington entry but it just wasn't enough as Travis Pennington would claim his 2nd race win for the 2018 FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance season and the $2000 Charlie Mize Memorial race in Lavonia, GA. Timms would have to settle yet again for another runner up finish has he did besting tonight with his runner up finish at County Line Raceway with FASTRAK event in 2014 won by Walker Arthur. Trent Ivey would settle for 3rd with Brett Hamm and Larry Timms rounding out the top five at the checkered flag.

The race event evening got kicked off with VP Racing Fuels QUICKTIME Qualifying, in the past we have group qualifying however it was decided by series director DJ Irvine to have heads up time trials since the entire field would be locked into the $3000 40 lap feature. The #87 Masterbilt chassis of Forrest, Va’s Walker Arthur would set the fastest lap against the clock with a 19.098 second lap around the ½ mile, for his rewards Arthur was able to get a little taste of the trophy presentation taking the small “golden eagle” that went to the fast qualifiers of the event.

After the completion of time trials came the 3-8 lap heat races locking in the entire 26 car field won by, #79 Ross Bailes, #55 Matt Long and #75 Brett Hamm. The A-Main feature races of the 42nd USA 100 then followed and seen a former FASTRAK successor in #43 Tyler Bare take the $20,000 victory in front of his hometown crowd for his career first super late model win. Once the dust settled and the celebration wrapped up for the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series win for Bare it was time for the 25 car field losing, #83 Jensen Ford after an incident sidelining him during his heat race, it was time to go to battle for the 40 Lap $3000 to win show. The 4 wide salute with drivers parading around with ‘old glory’ proudly with fireworks and bombs bursting through the air was a special sight to witness as well, with the pageantry and hype concluded it was time to kick off the “race for the golden eagle” in the “Commonwealth of Virginia”.

The race would get underway with #79 Ross Bailes in the Longhorn chassis looking for his 3rd straight FASTRAK touring win bringing them to the start with #55 Matt Long alongside, however the race would not get a lap in after an incident that collected a half dozen cars in the chaos off turn four, cars collected included female from Evans, GA #23 Ahanna Parkhurst in the Sweet Bloomquist chassis as she got the worst end of the deal ending her evening, others involved #2* Jared Powell, #66 Matt Tarbox, #40 Brett Bordeaux and #71 Davis Lipscombe. Lipscombe simply lost control exiting turn three and the car violently came around him in front of the field causing a chain reaction of check up and no where to go for some. On the restart it was Bailes jumping out into the early lead with Long, Hamm Roberson and Parks all right there ready to strike with any slip of the Billy Hicks owned Longhorn chassis of Bailes. There would be several other cautions for multi car incidents involving #52d Brad Basey, #5j Darrell Dow and #77 Brian Hankins.

The opening laps again we’re led by Bailes but that all changed on lap 17 after the 3rd caution of the race when #55 Matt Long got a great opportunity on the inside for the restart as Bailes decided to take the outside lane, that decision would be a win/lose scenario for the front row as Bailes couldn’t hold off the charge Long got diving into turn one to take the lead. During the process of the slip on the restart for Bailes he’d drift back inside the top five allowing #17 Logan Roberson from Waynesboro, VA in his Rocket XR1 chassis to take the runner up position, also after having engine woes back at Virginia Motor Speedway the #75 Longhorn chassis of Brett Hamm would comfortably settle into the top three while the race progressed.

All the while the race was filled with intense 3-4 wide action through the entire stacked field of FASTRAK hungry competitors going for the $3000 payday and the “golden eagle”. The final caution of the race would set up a three lap shootout on lap 37 when the #01 Matt Glanden suffered mechanical issues exiting turn two. On the final restart Logan Roberson tried all he could to get to the back spoiler of Long but just couldn’t capitalize as Long would sail away with a -1.065 second interval at the checkers to take the victory making it the biggest win so far in his pro late model series career for FASTRAK. Roberson would settle for the 2nd position for the 3rd straight FASTRAK touring event in a row. While Brett Hamm would round out the podium with 3rd, defending FASTRAK World Champion and race pole sitter Ross Bailes would take 4th and a great run for the #21 Billy Beachler from Franklin, WV would round out the Top 5. Going into the evening also the current points leader for the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance gunning for the $10,000 claim at season’s end #4 Matthew Nance from Ronda, NC in his Longhorn chassis would stay out of trouble to take a 6th place finish, #6 Chris Blackwell, #47 Matt Quade, #7a Corey Almond and #54 Justin Wofford had stellar runs as well to round out the Top 10 when the checkered flag fell.

BAILES IN THE HICKS OWNED LONGHORN TAKES NIGHT #1 OF FASTRAK'S TRIPLE CROWN AT 311 SPEEDWAY

FASTRAK Companies International – By Wesley Outland

PINE HALL, NC - The 14th Annual FASTRAK Triple Crown, which features almost $35,000 in total purse money, kicked off Friday evening at the 1/2 mile immaculate well-lit 311 Speedway in Pine Hall, NC for a $2500 to win kickoff to decide who’d claim a Grandfather Clock, courtesy of NRV Furniture, Inc. Furniture and Mattress Center. Thirty-Two entries from 7 different states battled it out in front of a spectacular crowd for the first leg of the 14th FASTRAK Triple Crown series co-headlined also with a $4000 to win ULTIMATE Southeast Super Late Model Series event during the Annual Bill Hicks Memorial Race. At night’s end it was a special evening for the Hicks family as #55 Benji Hicks would win the ULTIMATE Series race and the Hicks owned Longhorn chassis driven by defending FASTRAK World Champion #79 Ross Bailes from Clover, SC would take the $2500 payday. When the evening concluded there moments of tears and laughter for a remarkable night for the entire Hicks family, no one will never forget that attended.

The race got kicked off with VP Racing Fuels QUICKTIME Group Qualifying with also bonus money up for grabs thanks to the local CarQuest Auto Parts, the #29 of Dale Moore from Reidsville, NC set the fast time being the last car in Group A to bump #55 Hicks from the pole with a 17.703 sec lap around the 1/2 mile. Group B fast qualifier was the #00v of Josh Henry from Newport, TN with a 17.894 sec lap. The Group B portion of qualifying was halted for about 20 minutes after a little passing shower that turned out to be the only delay for precipitation of the event.

After the completion of time trials came the 4-10 lap heat races locking in the top 5 won by, #17 Logan Roberson, #79 Ross Bailes, #55 Benji Hicks and #75 Brett Hamm. The B-Main saw the #1 Dustin Ferguson take the 12 lap last chance race and then through Tony Hicks and FASTRAK was the special Hicks 10 Lap showdown, which featured all the cars not locked into the A-main having the shot at $250 only or starting in position spot #25 with a guaranteed $250 to start the feature but the opportunity to climb the purse ladder. #5j Virginia Darrell Dow would take the 10 lap shootout but quickly announced he’s starting shotgun of the field for the A-Main. After the 4 wide salute with drivers showing ‘old glory’ proudly with fireworks and bombs bursting through the air as well it was time to kick off the “race for the Grandfather Clock” in front of a standing room facility in western North Carolina.

The race would get underway with the opening 5 laps offering intense 3-4 wide racing, the early leader would be Roberson in #17 however on the restart after a sequence of yellow involving #5j Darrell Dow and #2 Michael Bland, this was only the mere beginning of a storm brewing on the speedway. On the 3rd attempt at the restart on lap #12 ‘the big one’ happened exiting off turn 4, the incident began when Dow lost power to his engine while the lead lap cars we’re overtaking him off the corner, he lost power and everyone behind him darted left and right to miss the #5j bulls eye in their view. This cause 8 cars to be collected including #71 Mitchell Coble, #2 Bland, #1 Ferguson, #54 Justin Wofford, #11 Cole Apple, #00 Randy Kinder, #17 Roberson and #75 Brett Hamm, all others continued but Hamm as he’d have to have assistance off the speedway via the “hook” ending his evening.

A few more yellows would halt the event with #54 Wofford and #8 Chis Chandler getting into a late race caution with #33g Shane Greco as well. Meanwhile throughout the race the excitement was close inside the top 5 between Bailes, Hicks and Roberson. They would continue to swap the lead positions for the top 3 podium spots constantly. Also in the mix was the current FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance points leader #4 of Matthew Nance, though Nance got collected in the big wreck he was able to sustain minimal damage on the Longhorn chassis to have another Top 5 finish.

The final caution would come out on lap 36 setting up a 4 lap shootout. On the restart #17 Roberson and #55 Hicks tried to hang with the entry of #79 Bailes but it what seemed to be saving his equipment or not showing ‘his cards’ race end showed Bailes put the #79 entry into stealth mode pulling away from Hicks, Nance and Henry. Roberson was the only driver that could reel in Bailes but as soon as he’d strike the hour glass came up short of the #79 Longhorn chassis owned by Billy and Tony Hicks would win in front of a roaring crescendo of fans that support and love the Hicks name at 311 Speedway and the competitor that Bailes is for the opening race of the 14th Annual FASTRAK Triple Crown Series to kick off the three race series for our Memorial Day weekend “festival of speed”.

FASTRAK TECHNICAL BULLETIN UPDATE

EFFECTIVE FRIDAY APRIL 27TH. (This will give us time to get this adjustment to the tracks and also teams will have a week to get prepared.)

CARNESVILLE, GA - Officials with the FASTRAK Racing Series have announced a change to the sanctioning body’s shock and spring rule. FASTRAK will be adopting suspension rules that are more consistent with other sanctioning bodies. The change will allow drivers to use bump stops on their shocks. The changes will apply to the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance as well as at all weekly sanctioned race tracks effective Friday April 27th, 2018.

“When we came out with our 2018 rules package, our intention was to save drivers money on their suspension set ups,” said FASTRAK General Manager DJ Irvine, “However, this change will keep drivers from having to buy a different right front set up to race in FASTRAK sanctioned events.”

FASTRAK’s goal since day one was to keep Late Model racing affordable for drivers. The sanctioning body has been successful in controlling costs of the engines and tires, the most expensive components of racing. As technology has evolved, costs have risen on other areas of the car and FASTRAK will continue to evaluate its rules to keep costs in check. The shock claim rule will be adjusted to $800 per shock, consistent with other series.

The rule change becomes effective as of Friday April 27th, as the FASTRAK VP Racing Fuels National Weekly Championship points begin this Friday, April 20th and it’s not fair to ask teams to change over in 2 days for this weekend.

SHOCKS: There is an $800 Claim Rule Option. This claim rule includes the shock ONLY (no bumps, springs, coil over kits, etc). The claiming process for a shock will mirror the same claiming process used for engines. Any attempt to refuse “shock claim” or damage “claimed shock” will result in immediate disqualification from event, $500 fine, and is subject to additional penalties at the discretion of FASTRAK.

1. Shocks, at any position on the race car, including lift bar and torque arm shocks must be constructed of magnetic steel or aluminum. "Thru Rod" style shocks NOT PERMITTED. Remote reservoir shocks are permitted. All shocks must have no more than 2 external adjusters. Remote reservoirs may only have 1 external adjuster. Adjuster mechanisms must not be hidden by the rod end. Adjuster mechanisms must be on the shock body, the shock rod, or on the remote reservoir. Cockpit adjustment shocks, shocks adjustable by remote, or ANY SHOCK that can be electronically adjusted in any fashion are NOT PERMITTED. Cartridge style shocks, mass inerter style shocks, or dampers are NOT PERMITTED.

2. Shock rods (3/4"max. diameter) must not surpass 250 lbs of pressure (extended at room temperature).

3. Standard late model shock equates to 1 shock per wheel except on the left rear, in which 2 are allowed (1 in front of rear end and 1 behind). Shocks must be mounted vertical to axle tube. No horizontal shocks allowed. No Air Shocks, Air Springs, Air Bumps, or Air Dumps.

4. Bump sticks or rods are not permitted.

SPRINGS: Front must be conventional coil springs. Rear may be conventional coil and/or leaf springs.

1. All coil springs must be of conventional design with closed ground ends. Barrel design springs are permitted. All coil springs must be manufactured from magnetic steel. Spring preload adjustments for coil springs must be made using the threaded mechanical adjusting nuts on the shock body only.

2. Leaf springs must be manufactured from magnetic steel or approved composite materials. Spring preload adjustments for leaf springs must be made using a mechanical adjusting device such as an adjustable shackle or threaded rod type mount.

3. Other than dampening by the shock absorber, any other method or device that affects spring preload or race car heights is not permitted, including but not limited to hydraulic, pneumatic, or electronically controlled adjusting devices (static or dynamic).

4. One conventional coil spring will be permitted per shock per corner of the car. Only one LR shock can have a spring. One standard helper or take-up spring will be allowed per shock with a maximum rate of 30 lb/in. No other stacking of springs allowed.

5. Progressive or digressive springs, including “dual rate” springs are not allowed. When measured, the coil spacing after the first closed coil must be consistent for the full length of the spring.

CARNESVILLE, GA - After being delayed for two weeks for continued cold and rainy weather, the time has come for the FASTRAK VP Racing Fuels National Weekly Championship hunt to begin. LAVONIA AND TOCCOA FASTRAK EVENTS CANCELED THIS WEEKEND

CARNESVILLE, GA - As FASTRAK introduced the new spring and bump stop rule over the winter, several teams from both speedways didn't like the rule and therefore caused some controversy at both tracks in relation to the 2018 rule package. Therefore, both tracks have been "on hold" as to what to do. Until it is worked out the touring events have also been put "on hold". Not washed out altogether but put on hold. Both speedways were quick to say this morning, “Let’s not cancel anything else, let’s make sure we have all this worked out then move forward.”

We worked hard over the winter on changes in FASTRAK that we hoped would help people save money said Stan Lester of FASTRAK. We've talked to teams and tracks and although all of our other tracks were in complete agreement, teams from our local area obviously had some problems with the rule.

“I was disappointed,” said Lester, “but I also understand. This company has given back over $200,000 in point money to teams in this area alone over the years and over 4 million across the nation. I would really like for teams to think about that. Royce Bray won over $50,000 one year, Hot Rod LaMance won $50,000, David McCoy won $10,000 just a couple years ago for the National Weekly Championship and plenty of $5,000 checks have been awarded.”

Honestly, we thought we had done the right thing to help the smaller budget teams. We welcomed conversations with local teams in the area, but since many do not come to rules meetings, it makes it a little hard to know what people are thinking. Thats why we have rules meetings with tracks and the teams at our National Awards banquet every year and have since this company began. We want to know what teams’ objections or suggestions are and we work with those to adjust our rules accordingly. I wish more people would come to those and this could have easily been resolved. Everyone’s opinions are important in this company and we will work with you, but we cannot read people’s minds. All I wanted when I was racing is a series/governing body that would truly listen to us, the people spending the money, so we created a governing body that did just that, but we can't make people come to meetings. This is a place where every racers’ opinion matters. It only makes the series better and those that race in it.

“It’s not only FASTRAK that’s been looking at rules changes to springs, shocks, body rules, droop rules and a lot of changes,” said Lester, “I know we have shock builders and even some chassis companies working against us on this deal. That's pretty obvious. The prices for the series are cheaper than they have ever been. Memberships have been reduced for having separate memberships for the tour and weekly. Fees to the tracks have been cut by 70% when the recession hit, entry fees have been cut in half in some cases. We have done all we can on our end, so I would ask the racers, if we cut our fees, which obviously cuts our income, why are you upset with us over trying to save you money? Maybe we need to charge more again so people think it has more value? We even added $100,000 driver/team member/track official insurance programs now, so we as a company are trying hard to keep cost down, not just in suspension all the while not reducing point funds.”

At any rate, as close as the "timing" was, the tracks decided to cancel the events and once again that hurts our income. We are still working on making an "adjustment" to the rules to try to be more inclusive of other series rules, but keep in mind, everyone is changing things. It’s not just FASTRAK.

“Honestly, I look for both of these races to be made up once the rules are worked out and I do believe that will be the case. If nothing else, I will lease the tracks and do it myself. I really don't have a problem with it,” concluded Lester.

BAILES STARTS OFF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DEFENSE AT VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY WINNING THE FASTRAK "KING OF THE COMMONWEALTH"

FASTRAK Companies International – By Wesley Outland

JAMAICA, VA - The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance returned to the beautiful 1/2 mile gem that is Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway for Round #3 of the 2018 national tour with the $3000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. 24 drivers from 6 states made the trip to the facility in front of an eager crowd ready to see racing return to the tidewater region of Virginia for the kickoff of the race season for its 19 season of competition. The night got kicked off with the #89 Rocket XR1 chassis of Justin Williams putting down the fastest time in group qualifying with 18.960 seconds.

That then set up the four heat races to set the field for the 40 lap feature in front of a spectacular crowd on hand. After everything was said and done it was the defending 2017 FASTRAK World Champion from Clover, SC #79 Ross Bailes claiming the $3000 payday to make the 3rd different winner on the season as the night ended.

Heat #1 - #75 Brett Hamm set out at the green flag start and never looked back as he would hold off all comers in #4 Matthew Nance #22 Kenny Peeples Jr. and others to easily take the checkers.

Heat #2 - The quick qualifier led the field to Heat #2 and shades of what Hamm did never looked back holding off #30 Tyler Bare, #1 Matt Glanden the top 3 in clean race to line up the 2nd starting spot.

Heat #3 - #17 Logan Roberson had to work for it in the 3rd heat after a great battle with the defending FASTRAK World Champion #79 Ross Bailes from Clover, SC. Also an impressive race for #002 of Tyler Arrington for 3rd staying out of trouble for the finish.

Heat #4 - In the final heat it was a great showing by the #55 from Concord, NC of Matt Long showing his momentum in the Virginia night easily. Four time FASTRAK Touring champion #11 David Smith settled for 2nd and local favorite from Virginia Motor Speedway in the Longhorn chassis #7 Corey Almond took 3rd, with the heats complete it was time to decide who’d take the $3000 victory.

When the green flag fell it was the #75 of Brett Hamm jumping out into the early lead however the BIG ONE would come early out of turn four with a multi car incident during lap 2, on the restart another accident would ensue in the same place. On the restart Hamm would jump out to the top spot. Hamm would hold on to the top spot until lap 8 when the fast qualifier #89 Justin Williams in his Rocket chassis roared to the front. The race would stopped again with a few single car spins or drivers with tire/mechanical issues including #11 David Smith, #38 Nick Love and #5j Warren Dow. Until this point it seemed like it was Williams to take it however Bailes was reeling him in with the likes also of #55 Matt Long, #7 Corey Almond, #4 Matthew Nance and #17 Logan Roberson in the cross hairs too.

The racing was fast and furious all around the 1/2 mile with 3-4 wide excitement from first to last position. Just before the halfway point Bailes would make his move off turn two to relinquish the top position from Williams, just a few laps after that Williams would hand grenade the engine causing the final caution of the race on lap 33. This set up a seven lap shootout with Bailes out in front, Long and Roberson tried all that they could muster to pull the upset on Bailes but it wasn’t enough as the defending FASTRAK World Championship title holder would take the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth making him the 3rd different winner on the 2018 season.

FASTRAK NATIONAL WEEKLY POINTS DELAYED TWO WEEKS

CARNESVILLE, GA - Officials with FASTRAK have made the decision to delay the start of National Weekly Points by two weeks. As winter weather and rain continue to delay the opening of several FASTRAK sanctioned tracks, the points season will officially begin on April 20th. The National Weekly Championship will run until Labor Day, September 3rd.

“Several of our tracks were planning to begin their season this weekend, in conjunction with the start of the National Points,” said FASTRAK General Manager DJ Irvine, “However, cold temperatures, rain, and even snow, has forced those tracks to push their opening race back.”

Drivers competing for the FASTRAK National Weekly Championship compile their best fifteen finishes throughout the year. The Championship pays $10,000 to win and pays the top ten in National Points. Divisional points will also begin on April 20th. The Divisions were announced earlier this week. The decision was made to postpone the start of the National Weekly Points so that everyone would have the chance to begin the season at the same time.

“Hopefully, Mother Nature will begin to cooperate within the next two weeks and our tracks can get their seasons underway,” continued Irvine, “This weekend alone we had to postpone three ULTIMATE races; one was snowed out, one was froze out, and the other was rained out.”

FASTRAK WELCOMES SWIFT SPRINGS AS A SPONSOR

CARNESVILLE, GA - The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance is excited to welcome Swift Springs as a sponsor for the 2018 season. Swift will be awarding a $100 product certificate to the winner of each of series race during the season. Swift Springs was founded in 1997 with the goal of demonstrating their superior engineering by developing the next generation of motor sports suspension coil springs. That has led to springs being developed that are the lightest in weight and most durable while remaining cost effective. FASTRAK was founded with the goal of keeping late model racing affordable, which falls directly in line with Swift’s goals.

“We are available any time for drivers to lean on for technical support,” continued Simonetti, “we are available through social media or by telephone.”

FORMER AND CURRENT FASTRAK STARS TO COMPETE IN SUPER LATE MODELS 2018

CARNESVILLE, GA - The FASTRAK Chevrolet Performance late models have provided some of the most exciting and promising up and coming Super Late Model Stars in dirt racing with former winners like Jonathon Davenport, Chris Ferguson, Shanon Buckingham and many others. Even now current NASCAR stars like Austin and Ty Dillon have made their way through the ranks of FASTRAK late models and 2018 will be no different.

Current stars of the FASTRAK Series making their way to super late model racing in 2018 include Benji Hicks – 2017 SE Tour Champion, Cla Knight 2016 MOV and SE Tour Champion, Tyler Bare 2017 MOV Tour Champion, Ryan Montgomery from W, Travis Pennington several time tour winner and Mathew Nance 2017 Most Improved Driver recipient. All these teams are making the transition and even though most plan to still compete in FASTRAK Tour events in 2018 they are definitely on their way to becoming full time super late model competitors and even more so future stars along the way.

“It’s all to be expected” said Stan Lester Founder of the series. “It’s a normal progression of what these young men want to do to fulfill their dreams. Actually it’s a compliment of the largest type. I love to see these men move up and do well. We are very lucky to have had them along the way and even more so they still come back and compete from time to time and that’s exciting for everyone involved”.

“Think about it this way” said Lester. “We have the opportunity to watch these guys grow and learn and become superstars. That’s truly what FASTRAK is all about. Crate racing or Pro Late Model racing would be a better term because so many of our teams do become Pro’s at this sport as they move up. It also gives our fans the opportunity to watch them along the way as well. It has to be nice for our fans to say they knew Chris Ferguson, Austin Dillon and Jonathan Davenport before they became the stars they are today”.

There can be no doubt FASTRAK has become a building spot for these current stars and with the continued young talent coming into the series it looks like there is a lot more to come and the future is bright for FASTRAK and for the teams that follow the series.

“The manufacturers in this sport have been tremendously supportive of FASTRAK” said DJ Irwin General Manager. “It’s a great partnership for them also since in the future as these guys move up, they are already their customers and it becomes a long term investment for everyone concerned”.

It seems as Stan Lesters dream of “let us build the superstars of tomorrow” has come to fruition and continues to do so as current stars of FASTRAK “dip their toes” in super late model racing and also other professional forms of the sport.

For more information on the series please call (706) 567-6037 Stan Lesters direct number or General Office number (678) 935-7304.

All FASTRAK Members are eligible to compete for the $10,000 to win National Weekly Championship, which pays through the top 10. The points are calculated by taking a driver’s best 15 finishes throughout the year from FASTRAK sanctioned races. Members are also competing for the Divisional Championships, which puts tracks together based on geography, with each track receiving $1,000 toward the Divisional point fund.

FASTRAK members who compete in ten sanctioned races, weekly or touring, throughout the season are eligible to compete in the $5,000 to win FASTRAK World Challenge on September 14th at Virginia Motor Speedway. Additionally, all FASTRAK memberships now include $100,000 in participant accident medical insurance. Drivers can also add crew members to the policy for $20 per person.

The race will cap off an Independence Day swing for the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance.

“The FASTRAK touring races have always been great at Tyler County,” said John Watson of Tyler County Speedway, “We always have a great turn out and phenomenal racing.”

Tyler County Speedway will also be returning as a FASTRAK weekly sanctioned track in 2018. The track has seen several of their drivers place among the top of the National Weekly Championship in past seasons.

“That’s a big benefit of being FASTRAK sanctioned,” continued Watson, “They allow for the drivers to win a lot of money, and a lot of our drivers are usually in the hunt for the Championship.”

WYTHE RACEWAY AND FASTRAK ENTER 15TH SEASON TOGETHER

CARNESVILLE, GA - Fred Brown, owner of Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA has been with FASTRAK from the beginning. Wythe hosts weekly sanctioned FASTRAK races throughout the year and two FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance events every season. FASTRAK’s first visit to the high banked half-mile track in 2018 is on May 27th for the last leg of the annual Triple Crown for $3,000 to win. The series will return to Wythe on September 2nd for the $3,000 to win 15th Annual Pro Late Model Nationals, which is also the final race of the 2018 East Coast Rumble.

“Wythe becoming part of the Triple Crown and the Pro Late Model Nationals being a part of the East Coast Rumble has given fans and drivers something to be excited about each season,” said Brown, “The car count has been great and the racing even better.”

The 2018 season will mark the 15th year that Wythe and FASTRAK have been working together. The two have a common goal when it comes to the pro late models, affordability. Over the years, FASTRAK has kept the rules consistent and always keeps the costs at the forefront of all changes. This season is bringing a change to shock and spring rules, one that Brown thinks is going to help.

“FASTRAK’s rules certainly help keep the costs down for drivers,” stated Brown, “For example, the change coming this season in regards to shocks, is going to keep the drivers from having to spend a lot of money on them.”

Above all else, Brown sees that FASTRAK keeps the rules consistent and uniform. It gives teams the ability to travel in the event of a cancellation or rain out.

“FASTRAK has made pro late model racing the same all over the country,” said Brown, “That consistency allows for teams to travel around if they get rained out.”

CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE BECOMES PRESENTING SPONSOR OF FASTRAK RACING SERIES

CARNESVILLE, GA - Chevrolet Performance has been announced as the presenting sponsor for FASTRAK’s touring division for 2018. The series will formally be named The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance. Chevrolet Performance has been a partner with FASTRAK since 2005 when the sanctioning body began to utilize the CT400 (604) engine.

“FASTRAK, as a pioneer in the southeast, spearheaded the effort of keeping racing affordable,” said Bill Martens, Special Programs Manager with Chevrolet Performance, “for that, GM is very grateful.”

The overall goal of the “crate” engine program is to maintain consistency of power output by refraining from making drastic changes to the CT400 (604) engine. FASTRAK’s goal has always been to make late model racing more affordable by controlling one of racing’s most costly components, the engine.

“We haven’t made any major changes to the architecture or components to maintain power levels,” said Martens, “We don’t want to make anyone’s engine obsolete by making those types of changes.”

Together, FASTRAK and Chevrolet Performance have built the class to what it is today. Through consistent tech and open communication, the two are pushing pro late model racing into the future.

“We are looking forward to maintaining our multi-year relationship with FASTRAK,” stated Martens, “They give drivers a great place to go race their Chevrolet Performance powered cars.”

Drivers competing in The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance are chasing a $10,000 to win championship, that pays through the top 10 in points. FASTRAK recently announced a 23-race schedule that spans from February to November for the 2018 season.

FASTRAK'S STAN LESTER NAMED DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS FOR AMRA

CARNESVILLE, GA - Stan Lester, founder of FASTRAK Companies International, will become the new Director of Operations of the American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) for the 2018 season. AMRA is based in Marietta, OH. AMRA sanctions Super Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, and Sport Mods. The ULTIMATE Mid-Ohio Valley Super Late Model Series and AMRA previously announced that they will work together as sanctioning bodies in the realm of super late models. That announcement has led to new opportunities.

“We will be using this year to listen and learn,” said Lester, “I will be meeting with tracks and teams before the season to see what their needs are as I take on this new endeavor.”

With Lester coming in as Director of Operations, there are no initial plans to make any major changes for the 2018 season. The only change currently planned for 2018 is possibly adding one Open Wheel Modified touring race at each of the AMRA sanctioned race tracks. AMRA officials will be putting together meetings for track operators and teams to have the chance to meet Lester face to face. Once those meetings are completed, some changes could be made based on the needs of tracks and drivers. Through FASTRAK, Lester has already built a strong relationship with several of the sanctioned race tracks.

“Adding the Open Wheel Modified touring races is the only thing I want to do different in 2018,” stated Lester, “I want to reiterate that we aren’t here to make wholesale changes, but to listen, learn, and help this season.”

AMRA feels that Lester’s experience in motorsports sanctioning will be a valuable benefit to the sanctioning body in 2018 and beyond. In 2018, AMRA drivers will be able to obtain weekly points when they come compete with the ULTIMATE Mid-Ohio Valley Super Late Model Series.

“We are putting AMRA in the hands of someone who is going to take it to the next level,” stated AMRA representative Angie Haught, “Stan has a remarkable ability to communicate with tracks and teams, which is second to none.”

Lester comes in to AMRA with the goal of helping the drivers and the tracks, something that is no different than how he has built FASTRAK over the past 15 years. He hopes to incentivize more drivers to get involved, which will bring more people to the stands and the pits, leading to the tracks having additional income.

“Stan will help promote the stars of this region,” continued Haught, “It will lead to more people competing, more people in the stands, and more people in the pits. It’s truly a win-win-win!”

Through FASTRAK, AMRA members will be offered $100,000 in participant accident medical insurance through Mutual of Omaha in 2018. The policy also includes $10,000 in accidental death and specific loss coverage. The policy will cover drivers any time they are competing in an AMRA, FASTRAK, or ULTIMATE sanctioned event. Drivers can also add any additional crew members to the policy for just $20 per person.

“We never want to see anything happen to any driver,” said Lester, “But putting these protections in place for the drivers is an important step in taking care of them.”

Stan Lester can be contacted at (706)567-6037 or by email sl@fastrakracing.com

$100,000 IN ADDITIONAL MEDICAL INSURANCE INCLUDED IN FASTRAK MEMBERSHIP IN 2018

CARNESVILLE, GA - FASTRAK Companies International has finalized a deal to provide its member drivers with $100,000 in participant accident medical insurance through Mutual of Omaha. The insurance policy will be included in the annual membership fee both weekly and touring drivers.

“I’ve worked for 14 years to get our drivers something like this to make the FASTRAK membership even more worthwhile,” stated FASTRAK Founder Stan Lester, “This gives us the ability to offer our drivers another level of protection when they are at the race track.”

Drivers will also be able to insure their crew members for an additional $20 per person. Drivers will need to provide FASTRAK with the names of any crew members they wish to insure, along with payment when they submit their 2018 membership form.

“This is big for our members,” said FASTRAK General Manager DJ Irvine, “Our sport is inherently dangerous, so to be able to put this program in place to give drivers and their families more protection is a step in the right direction.”

The insurance is a secondary policy that will pay benefits from losses or injuries incurred while at the race track, after the individual’s primary medical policy. The policy will begin to pay benefits once an individual’s primary insurance has responded to the claim. The policy also includes up to $10,000 for Accidental Death and Specific Loss which is outlined in the explanation of benefits that will be made available to drivers.

FASTRAK will also require non-members to pay a $25 temporary membership fee when coming to race at any FASTRAK sanctioned event, weekly or touring. Temporary members will have the option of purchasing the insurance policy on themselves and crew members as well.

TOCCOA RACEWAY STAYS WITH FASTRAK SANCTIONING TO BENEFIT DRIVERS

CARNESVILLE, GA - Toccoa Raceway, in Toccoa, Georgia will return as a FASTRAK sanctioned track for the fourth consecutive year under owner Mike Davidson. The track has seen one of its weekly drivers win the FASTRAK National Weekly Championship as recently as 2016, when David McCoy of Franklin, NC took home the honors.

“FASTRAK gives local drivers the opportunity to run for a National Championship,” said Davidson, “They keep the rules uniform and these local guys are able to get some national publicity through FASTRAK.”

FASTRAK gives drivers the chance to race for the $10,000 to win National Championship at Toccoa Raceway. Other payouts include the Divisional championships and Future Star Cup.

“Giving our drivers the chance to race for multiple payouts is the best benefit,” stated Davidson, “FASTRAK’s reward to the drivers is simply unmatched.”

Toccoa was among the original FASTRAK sanctioned tracks in the southeast and has always played host to the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance each season. Toccoa Raceway is located just 15 miles from the FASTRAK Corporate Office located in Carnesville, Georgia.

“FASTRAK being based just 15 miles from the track makes it a no brainer to be sanctioned with them,” said Davidson.

The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance is scheduled for two races at Toccoa Raceway in 2018. On April 20th and 21st Toccoa will host a two-day, $5,000 to win race, with qualifying and heat races taking place on the 20th. Any B-Mains and the feature will be ran on April 21st. The series will return to the track on June 2nd for $2,000 to win.

“I am looking forward to getting the 2018 season started,” continued Davidson, “hoping for another competitive year with FASTRAK.”

PRINCETON SPEEDWAY ENTERS 13TH SEASON AS FASTRAK SANCTIONED

CARNESVILLE, GA - Princeton Speedway in Princeton, West Virginia is among the most tenured of FASTRAK sanctioned race tracks. Owner Melvin Bishop wouldn’t want the Chevrolet Performance Late Models at his track running under any other banner.

“It has been great from the beginning to now,” said Bishop, “The payouts and benefits that FASTRAK offers can’t be matched by any other sanctioning body out there.”

Princeton first came into the FASTRAK family in 2006 and has seen the growth of the Chevrolet Performance Late Models over the years. The track has become a staple on the Chevrolet Performance FASTRAK Racing Series with two events every year.

“The FASTRAK touring races are always our most successful events,” exclaimed Bishop, “the Triple Crown and the UBB Memorial always draw a large field of cars competing for one of the twenty-four starting spots.”

The Chevrolet Performance FASTRAK Racing Series will be returning to Princeton Speedway twice in 2018. The first stop, as part of the annual Triple Crown, will be a $2,000 to win race on May 26th. FASTRAK will return to Princeton on August 4th for the $2,900 to win UBB 29 Miners Memorial Race.

Bishop sees the value that FASTRAK offers to the local drivers as well as to the tracks in the area. FASTRAK’s tech process and unified rules strive to keep all drivers on the same playing field.

“FASTRAK has been the salvation for a lot of weekly tracks in this area,” said Bishop, “the tech keeps everything fair and drivers don’t feel like they’re being cheated. You see the car counts rise when the FASTRAK tour comes to town.”

Princeton has averaged fifteen Chevrolet Performance Late Models on a weekly basis over the past few seasons, all under FASTRAK sanctioning. Bishop attributes the class’ success to the tech and numerous benefits that FASTRAK provides.

“If I wasn’t FASTRAK sanctioned I’m certain that these local drivers would somewhere that was to race,” concluded Bishop.

VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY AND FASTRAK SHARE VISION OF AFFORDABLE RACING

CARNESVILLE, GA - When Virginia Motor Speedway first joined the FASTRAK family of weekly sanctioned tracks in 2013, a vision was born. That vision was to offer an affordable way for weekly drivers to participate in Late Model Racing. After the initial season which saw the Chevrolet Performance Late Models mixed in with Virginia Motor Speedway’s limited late model class, the Pro Late Models stood alone in their own class the following season.

“FASTRAK’s vision as far as an affordable class is the way to go now and into the future,” said Virginia Motor Speedway owner Bill Sawyer, “It’s going to become too expensive for guys to go race on a Friday and Saturday night unless we continue in this direction.”

Virginia Motor Speedway and FASTRAK recently reached an agreement to continue hosting the FASTRAK World Championship weekly through 2020. It was announced at FASTRAK’s Night of Champions banquet that the 2019 FASTRAK World Championship will pay $50,000 to win and $2,050 to coincide with the celebration of the Jamaica, Virginia track’s 50th anniversary. The 2019 FASTRAK World Championship will be the biggest purse that Chevrolet Performance Late Models have ever seen with a total purse of $158,075.

“If I didn’t believe in the FASTRAK World Championship I wouldn’t have supported initially and continue to support it,” continued Bill Sawyer, “To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the track we’re hosting the biggest paying Pro Late Model race ever by paying $50,000 to win in 2019.”

The relationship between the track and sanctioning body has blossomed over the past five years. The Chevrolet Performance Late Models have gone from being mixed with another class to averaging 15 cars each race night. As the class has grown, so has the support for the FASTRAK World Championship, which had 71 competitors enter the $20,000 to win race in 2017.

“When we first came on with FASTRAK, we respected their direction,” said Virginia Motor Speedway General Manager Clarke Sawyer, “the relationship has been built on a mutual understanding of the goal, which is affordable racing.”

The 2018 season will see the Chevrolet Performance FASTRAK Racing Series make three visits to Virginia Motor Speedway. The King of the Commonwealth will be held on April 14th and the USA 100 will be held on June 16th, both paying $3,000 to win the FASTRAK portion of the events. The FASTRAK World Challenge, a $5,000 to win members only race, will be on September 14th. September 15th is the FASTRAK World Championship paying $20,000 to win. The 2018 FASTRAK World Championship will provide more drivers the opportunity to race for money with the addition of at least one non-qualifiers race. The strong turn out for the 2017 FASTRAK World Championship prompted the Sawyers to find ways to make the event even bigger than it has been in the past.

“To this point it has proved to bring affordable racing to reality,” said Clarke Sawyer, “Being in the FASTRAK family has proved beneficial for the drivers and the track.”

SCREVEN MOTOR SPEEDWAY'S WINTER FREEZE EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO UNFAVORABLE FORECAST

SYLVANIA, GA – Officials of the Screven Motor Speedway in coordination with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series, FASTRAK Racing Series and SCDRA Series have made the difficult decision to cancel the Winter Freeze event scheduled for February 8-10 at the Sylvania, Georgia oval. With forecasts nearing 80% for both Friday and Saturday officials explained the decision was most prudent for everyone involved. “We really want to race. We told everyone yesterday that we intended to race and work around the weather. And we had hoped that forecasts would improve and that we could find a way to get the program in. But we simply cannot change the weather. With the rain we are getting today added to what we are expected to get Friday and Saturday, we would never be able to prepare the racetrack and grounds properly.” said Screven Motor Speedway owner James “Redd” Griffin.

“We have fans and teams traveling from very long distances and we wanted to make a decision as early as we possibly could. But we wanted to make the decision that best benefits everyone. After talking with the World of Outlaws Director Matt Curl, FASTRAK Series Owner Stan Lester and SCDRA Director Kelley Carlton we just felt like we were asking so many guys to take a big risk financially. We hate it for sure. We had done a lot of advertising and already have supplies purchased so it certainly hurts us to not try to run it. It will probably be my luck that the sun will shine Friday and Saturday and this will be the wrong call. But with all the information we have to look at right now coupled with the fact that many teams and fans will need to leave today to get here we think this is just the best decision to make.” Griffin added.

The World of Outlaw Craftsman Late Model Series and Griffin are exploring possible make up dates for the events. Griffin is also making plans to reschedule the FASTRAK event later in the season along with a make-up date for the $13,000 to win SCDRA Renegade 4 Battle Royale.

Announcements of those events are forthcoming. Teams that pre-paid for parking will either receive refunds or their checks back. SCDRA Teams that paid entry fees in advance can carry them over to the rescheduled event at Screven or contact Series Director Kelley Carlton at (864) 871-1442 or by email at kelcarms@gmail.com for refund information.

WINTER FREEZE KICKS OFF 2018 FASTRAK RACING SERIES SCHEDULE WITH $23,135 TOTAL PURSE

CARNESVILLE, GA - With football season in the rearview mirror, the 8th annual Winter Freeze at Screven Motor Speedway sits just days away. The event will open the 2018 season for the Chevrolet Performance Late Models of the FASTRAK Racing Season, racing for $2,000 to win on Friday, February 9th and $3,000 to win on Saturday, February 10th. Teams with the FASTRAK Racing Series will be competing for their share of over $23,000 in purse money.

FASTRAK Racing Series shares the racing card with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, which is also kicking off their 2018 season with two complete shows; $8,000 to win on Friday and $12,000 to win on Saturday. The Sport Compact Dirt Racing Association will be running for a $13,000 payday in their 100-lap feature on Saturday night. Super Streets will run a full program, paying $1,000 to win on Friday, while Street Stock V-8s will run a full program also paying $1,000 to win on Saturday. There will be an open practice for all divisions on Thursday, February 8th.

The FASTRAK Racing Series will continue the use of the new “A and B” format which was introduced at Screven Motor Speedway for the final two races of 2017. The change was made after several teams and drivers had asked FASTRAK to shift away from the traditional “group format” used by the series. The result was still side by side racing all through the heat races, B-main, and feature. FASTRAK officials made the determination to stick with the new format for the entire 2018 season.

Chevrolet Performance Late Model teams will be competing under the 2017 FASTRAK Racing Series rule book for the Winter Freeze. FASTRAK held its annual Night of Champions banquet just two weeks prior to the event along with the annual rules meeting. The 2018 rule book will be published the week following the Winter Freeze.

Final adjustments are being made to the 2018 FASTRAK Racing Series schedule, which will be handed out and released at Screven Motor Speedway this weekend. The schedule features FASTRAK’s “staple events” such as the Triple Crown, East Coast Rumble, Moonshine 50, FASTRAK World Challenge, and FASTRAK World Championship.

As the 2018 season begins for the FASTRAK Racing Series, drivers will begin their quest for the 2018 Championship and the $10,000 pay day that comes with it. The FASTRAK Racing Series made three visits to Screven Motor Speedway in 2017 and saw three different winners. Cla Knight of North Augusta, SC won the Rebel Yell in FASTRAK’s first visit to the Sylania, GA race track in July. FASTRAK returned for two complete shows to wrap up the 2017 campaign in November and saw Travis Pennington of Stapleton, GA and Dillon Brown of Gaffney, SC take the checkered flag. Benji Hicks, of Mt. Airy, NC, claimed the 2017 FASTRAK Racing Series Championship at Screven Motor Speedway in the next to last race of the season.

All tickets for the Winter Freeze are all access and are $40 for each night on Friday and Saturday. Tickets for Thursday’s open practice are $20. Gates open at 4pm on Thursday, 9am on Friday, and 8am on Saturday. Drivers meetings are scheduled for 5pm on Friday and 4:30pm on Saturday, with on track activity to begin shortly after.

FASTRAK RACING SERIES LOOKS TO REPLACE "LATE MODEL MANIA" EVENT HELD IN MARCH

CARNESVILLE, GA - FASTRAK takes a lot of pride in building what are referred to as “staple events”. These events include the Triple Crown, the Moonshine 50, the East Coast Rumble, the FASTRAK World Challenge and the FASTRAK World Championship. These events have become staples on the FASTRAK Racing Series schedule each year. One event missing from the 2018 schedule is the former Late Model Mania which was held at Lavonia Speedway.

"We work with our tracks to build and brand these events," said DJ Irvine, General Manager of FASTRAK, "Events that teams, fans, media and sponsors come to every year knowing when and where they will be. Our team here at FASTRAK believes this is how we make our speedways money and stabilize the sport as a whole.”

FASTRAK started Late Model Mania at Lavonia Speedway when FASTRAK owner Stan Lester was also co-owner of track along with his partner Max King.

“Late Model Mania was our most profitable event of the year at the speedway,” said Lester, “It is one we need to look into hosting somewhere else since it is no longer at Lavonia. It is an event that will reward another track for taking, and they won’t want to see it leave their track. If we made it work at one track, then we can make it work at new location. It’s simply too good of an event to let slip away. Our teams looked forward to it, as well as the local teams and fans. It was a great kick off for the season.”

In the past, the event included FASTRAK Late Models, ULTMATE Super Late Models, SE Sportsman Limited Late Models and all local classes. Local classes would race on Saturday and/or finish up on Sunday with Late Model classes finishing up on Sunday making it truly a "Late Model Mania".

If any speedway is interested in becoming the new venue of the "Late Model Mania" event, please contact the FASTRAK office ASAP. (678) 935-7304 ext 1 and ask for Stan Lester.

FASTRAK LOOKING TO TRULY SPLIT TOURING REGIONS AND POSSIBLY CUT BACK ON MULTIPLE TOURING EVENTS AT TRACKS

CARNESVILLE, GA - The time is getting close that the FASTRAK Pro Late Model Management team needs to start taking a good luck at the touring regions and their perspective schedules. Maybe it's time to do two totally separate tours, or look at limiting tracks to one touring event per season.

"We are truly blessed to be in our current situation" stated Stan Lester of the series. "think about it. How many series are in the position of having too many races and it seems as if that time is coming quickly? I am so grateful for the tracks that have seen us through a lot of growing pains over the last 15 years and they will continue to be our first priority".

"It has always been Stans idea of 15-20 races max" said DJ Irvine of FASTRAK. "He said he does not want to make Pro Late Model teams run 25-30 events a year, that it's too many for non professional teams, plus after a point it starts taking away from our local sanctioned speedways. Those are all things we have to balance carefully. We are very fortunate that most of our schedule is set year after year. Obviously the tracks are making money from our events or that would not be the case. Going into my second season with the company, I was honestly surprised in looking at our Touring schedule most of it has been the same tracks on the same dates year after year. Thats pretty special and even more so since we are not a super late model series".

FASTRAK has worked with many speedways in building what they refer to as "staple events". Events the teams can depend on, the fans can depend on and the tracks can make a profit and continue to build that event year after year. "I've heard Stan say this even in my short time with the company" said Irvine, "but now it's really beginning to make sense".

The Triple Crown, the East Coast Rumble, The Moonshine 50, the World Challenge, The World Championship and others have become not only "staple events" but profitable events for those speedways involved and many of which have been ongoing for as many as 14 years now. "One thing I was told as soon as I came to work for the company said Irvine. "Call the track on Tuesday and see if they made money or not. Not how much they made but did it make a profit? Thats one thing our owner does not take no for an answer on" stated Irvine.

FASTRAK stepped it up once again in 2018 by introducing a new "co op advertising program" with a two page spread in each single issue of Dirt Late Model magazine in 2018. "I've never heard of a co-op ad program for dirt racing" stated Irvine.

They started the 2018 season with thanks to the sponsors and speedways on the left hand side with all the many champions of FASTRAK and it's sister companies of the ULTIMATE series on the right side of the page. Starting in January all FASTRAK events of $5000 and up are listed on the left hand side of the page as are $10,000 to win and up ULTIMATE events, with all the races of all 6 Regions listed on the right hand side of the page color coded to their regional logos and the season ending with a "NASCAR style National Awards banquet.

In addition FASTRAK/ULTIMATE also designs, prints and sends to all event tracks posters, fliers, facebook ads and of course the new "Co Op" add program. For a Regional Touring series it sure seems that FASTRAK and ULTIMATE are doing more than their part of making their events a success.

On top of all the good things that seem to truly be exploding in both of those series, an announcement was made at the National Awards Banquet last weekend that the 2019 FASTRAK World Championship would pay out the richest purse in Chevrolet Performance dirt late model racing history of $50,000 to win and $2025 to start with over $158,000 in purse money that one night alone. Wow is about all that can be said at this point. What's next?

OVER $23,000 UP FOR GRABS FOR FASTRAK OPENER AT SCREVEN MOTOR SPORTS COMPLEX

CARNESVILLE, GA - The temperature may be cold, but the season is ready to heat up for the FASTRAK Racing Series. As part of Winter Freeze at Screven Motor Speedway, the Chevrolet Performance Late Models will hit the red clay to battle for over $23,000 in two complete shows. The FASTRAK Racing Series is set to begin its 15th season, February 9th and 10th at the Sylvania, GA race track. Drivers will compete for $2,000 to win on Friday and $3,000 to win on Saturday.

“I can’t think of a better place to kick-off our 2018 season,” said FASTRAK General Manager DJ Irvine, “We always have a strong field at Screven and fantastic racing.”

The FASTRAK Racing Series will continue with the new format, which was introduced at Screven in the 2017 season finale. Competitors will be split into two qualifying groups, based on pill draw, A and B. Heat race lineups will be determined by qualifying times with Group A making heats 1 and 3 and Group B making heats 2 and 4. The new format still produced the same quality of racing that everyone has come to expect from the FASTRAK Racing Series. Series officials decided to implement the change for the entire 2018 season.

“We used the new format after several drivers had asked for a change,” stated Irvine, “we always listen to their input and are willing to try something new. This time, they were right.”

The 2017 season saw a competitive point battle throughout the season, and the same is expected in 2018. The Championship, won by Benji Hicks, was locked up in the next to final race, also at Screven Motor Speedway. FASTRAK Racing Series is a part of the Winter Freeze for the first time.

In FASTRAK’s last appearance at Screven, Travis Pennington of Stapleton, GA took home the victory in the $2,000 to win event on November 17th. On November 18th, Dillon Brown of Gaffney, SC beat the field to the checkered flag to collect $3,000 in the FASTRAK Racing Series season finale.

Drivers wishing to compete in the FASTRAK Racing Series tour can send in their membership forms to the office or fill them out at Screven Motor Speedway. The 2018 membership form is available on the FASTRAK website, fastrakracing.com.

FASTRAK COMPANIES INTERNATIONAL GEARS UP FOR 15TH YEAR IN BUSINESS

CARNESVILLE, GA - When the green flag flies on February 9, 2018 at Screven Motor Speedway, FASTRAK Companies International will be entering its 15th year in business. It all started because Stan Lester, FASTRAK founder, knew that the highest costs in late model racing were the engines and tires. With the idea that those costs could be controlled, the corporation was formed late in 2003 and held its first ever race, with five cars, on April 3, 2004 at Winder Barrow Speedway in Winder, GA. It was then that the idea by Lester came to fruition.

“All five cars piled up in turn one after the white flag,” said Lester, “The track owner asked me, having never directed a race in my life, “What are you going to do?”, I told the drivers that the first one back to the finish line was the winner. You have never seen such a crazy dash to the finish in your life. It was a humble beginning to say the least.”

During that 2004 season FASTRAK saw tremendous growth. The second event had 18 cars, the third had 22, and the final race of the inaugural season had 51 cars at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Pooler, GA.

The very next season saw the birth of the FASTRAK Mid-Ohio Valley Region. Sticking with the initial mission of controlling the two most expensive components in racing, engines and tires, FASTRAK now uses the Chevrolet Performance CT 400 (604) engine, an affordable engine that offers 450 horsepower. FASTRAK has worked side by side with Chevrolet Performance to ensure that the engine remains affordable and dependable. To address the costs associated with tires, FASTRAK worked with Hoosier Tire to develop the FT Crate Spec tires known as the FT 200 and FT 400. The FT tires are the cheapest and best performing crate spec tires currently on the market.

“We have stuck to our original mission statement of controlling the cost of the engines and tires, and the 604 and 602 crate engines have met and exceeded all expectations, along with the FT Crate Spec tires” said Lester.

In 2011 the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series was born with the Southeast Region. ULTIMATE itself has since expanded into three more regions, the Battle of the Bluegrass, Mid-Ohio Valley, and Northeast. In total, FASTRAK Companies International now has six regions of dirt late model tours along with its Weekly Sanctioning of tracks throughout the eastern part of the United States. All parts of the FASTRAK family of racing, have a common goal; help tracks make money and give back to the drivers. The following Tuesday after any FASTRAK or ULTIMATE race, the regional director contacts the track with once simple question, “Did you make money?”.

“Our goal is simple,” stated FASTRAK General Manager DJ Irvine, “help tracks make money with successful events, give back to the drivers, and make certain the fans make memories at the race track.”

Over the course of the past 14 years, FASTRAK Companies International has paid out over $4,300,000 in Championship point money to the drivers. The Company looks forward to continuing to reward drivers, while also keeping costs in check. “We’ve done a pretty good job, along with our partners in containing the cost of engines and tires,” stated Lester.

WINTER FREEZE TO BE RAN UNDER 2017 RULES PACKAGE; SHOCK ANNOUNCEMENT FORTHCOMING

CARNESVILLE, GA - Officials with the FASTRAK Racing Series have announced that the season opening event, the Winter Freeze, at Screven Motor Speedway on February 9th and 10th will be ran under the 2017 rules package. FASTRAK holds its annual rules meeting in conjunction with the Night of Champions annual awards banquet on January 27th, just two weeks before the Winter Freeze.

“Our rules meeting is only two weeks before the Winter Freeze,” stated FASTRAK founder Stan Lester, “it just wouldn’t be fair to ask to teams to make changes that quickly.”

FASTRAK is looking to make a monumental change to the shocks and springs for 2018, in a concentrated effort to lower the costs associated with shocks. Officials have gathered information and input from shock companies, tracks, and drivers. This process culminated at the Performance Racing Industry trade show over the weekend in Indianapolis, where FASTRAK meet with several industry leaders regarding shocks. FASTRAK officials will be reviewing all information with sanctioned tracks and make a final decision in the coming week.

“We have collected a lot of information on shocks and now we have our options,” continued Lester, “we will be presenting those options to our tracks and make a decision together. We should have the answer everyone has been waiting for no later than early next week.”

Drivers and teams are encouraged to attend to the Night of Champions banquet and attend the annual rules meeting, which takes place earlier in the day on January 27th. All those wishing to attend must make their reservations at the Double Tree Park Vista in Gatlinburg, TN no later than December 26th. Attendees must also call the FASTRAK Corporate Office to reserve their tickets, which are $35 per plate.
