INAUGURAL FASTRAK FUTURE STARS TOUR RACE POSTPONED TO MAY 4TH AT VOLUNTEER SPEEDWAY

CARNESVILLE, GA - With a 90% chance of rain forecast for Toccoa Raceway on Friday during the scheduled insurance test for drivers under age 16, FASTRAK officials have decided to postpone the first ever FASTRAK Future Stars Tour race to May 4th at Volunteer Speedway. The insurance test will now be held on Friday, May 3rd at the high-banked oval in Bulls Gap, TN. Volunteer Speedway, being 90 feet wide and high banked, gives the young drivers the perfect place to have the test and the first race.

“Unfortunately, mother nature is not playing along for the insurance test to take place this Friday,” said FASTRAK Vice President DJ Irvine, “without the test drivers can’t be insured and we can’t hold the first race on Saturday at Toccoa Raceway. We know the Gap will be a great place for the insurance test and the first race. The FASTRAK teams will also be at the Gap and are looking forward to assisting the young drivers.”

The FASTAK Future Stars Tour is a 602 Late Model tour for drivers ages 13-19, giving a place for young drivers coming out of karting, bandoleros, and legend cars to race. Each race for the FASTRAK Future Stars Tour will pay $800 to win and $200 to start.

“We are looking forward to kicking off the Future Stars Tour and couldn’t be more excited for this series to come to life,” stated Irvine.

FASTRAK TO INTRODUCE NEWLY COMPOUNDED FT200

CARNESVILLE, GA - The FASTRAK teams came to Stan Lester two years ago with an idea of grooving and siping the FT400 tire to make it more user friendly. As normal Lester met with all the drivers, took a vote and the rule was implemented. It’s true the FT200 and FT400 crate spec tire made for FASTRAK by Hoosier Racing Tire, was shall we say “too far apart” from one another. It was more of an either or, simply based on when the FT400 was truly usable.

Lester and Shannon Rush had both heard the same thing from teams so they set out to introduce a newly compounded FT400 that would not have to be grooved and siped but would also come in faster making it more user friendly.

“Our FT400 tire sales were up tremendously in 2018,” said Lester, “and in the long run, that’s not good for business when it cost teams more to race. So, in working with Shannon, they came up with what we truly believe will be a hard tire, but much more competitive.”

This was discussed with the teams this past weekend and all voted and agreed on a May 1st burn off for the grooved and siped FT400 tires currently on the market. The newly compounded tires will be legal right from the beginning however, but again the old FT400 that’s grooved and siped will have a May 1st burn off period.

“I cannot wait to see this new tire perform,” said DJ Irvine Vice President of FASTRAK, “Listening to Stan and what the tire is made of and the new sidewall, I think it’s going to be an excellent product for our teams. Anytime you can have even more competitive racing and use less tires, that has to be good for racing.”

The new FT400 is available now at your local Hoosier Distributors.

HOOSIER RACING TIRE RETURNS AS THE OFFICIAL TIRE OF THE FASTRAK RACING SERIES

CARNESVILLE, GA - The FASTRAK Racing Series and Hoosier Racing Tire are continuing their partnership as Hoosier remains the Official Tire of FASTRAK. The Lakeville, IN based company was founded in the early 1950s by Bob and Joyce Newton, who began their operation in an old abandoned horse barn. Today, Hoosier tires can be found in all forms of motorsports. FASTRAK is excited to continue the partnership with Hoosier over the next 3 years.

“Everyone at Hoosier Racing Tire is pleased to continue our relationship with Stan, Mary Kay, and the entire FASTRAK Team.” stated Vice President of Sales and Marketing Paul Menting. “FASTRAK has built a strong organization on the principles of consistency and loyalty to its customers, and we are pleased that they trust Hoosier to apply this same concept to their spec tires.”

The Hoosier FT200 and FT400 are the only tires allowed in FASTRAK competition. The FT200 has proven itself to be the best crate spec tire on the market, consistently showing it is a longer lasting tire and more competitive. The FT400 will have a new compound in 2019, which has led FASTRAK to eliminate grooving and siping of the harder compound beginning May 1st.

“Hoosier Racing Tire has been an excellent partner over the years,” said FASTRAK Executive Vice President DJ Irvine, “The FT200 and FT400 are the best crate spec tire on the market, Hoosier put together a great tire for FASTRAK.”

Heading into the 2019, FASTRAK is beginning a brand-new Future Stars Tour for teenage drivers in 602 Late Models. The 2019 FASTRAK World Championship will pay $50,000 to win on September 13th and 14th at Virginia Motor Speedway. The World Championship will also be broadcast as part of a 2-hour special edition of Speed51’s Short Track America on MavTV on October 30th. Additionally, the 2019 FASTRAK World Challenge, for members only, will move to Beckley Motorsports Park, paying $2,000 to win on October 4th and $5,000 to win on October 5th. The FASTRAK World Challenge will also have a $5,000 to win points fund for the two nights of racing. All of these exciting events are being supported by Hoosier Racing Tire.

“Like Hoosier, FASTRAK is always looking to challenge itself.” relayed Hoosier Product Manager Shanon Rush. “With the development of the new 602 Future Stars program, the $50,000 World Championship on MAVTV, and the changes to the World Challenge, we are excited about the possibilities for 2019 and beyond.”

FASTRAK ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO WEEKLY CHAMPIONSHIP AND WORLD CHALLENGE

CARNESVILLE, GA - DJ Irvine, announced as Executive Vice President of FASTRAK Companies International, announced a change to the FASTRAK VP Racing Fuels National Weekly Championship and the 2019 FASTRAK World Challenge at the Night of Champions banquet in Kingsport, TN on January 19th. In 2019 the FASTRAK VP Racing Fuels National Weekly Championship will pay $5,000 to win and pay through the top ten in points. With the new format of the FASTRAK World Challenge, drivers will have the opportunity to win a possible $17,000 for the National Championship.

Drivers competing for the 2019 FASTRAK VP Racing Fuels National Weekly Championship will use their best 15 finishes throughout the season. Points begin on April 5th and end on Labor Day, September 2nd.

The 2019 FASTRAK World Challenge, which will be held at Beckley Motorsports Park, will be a two-day event paying $2,000 to win on Friday and $5,000 to win on Saturday. Additionally, the top ten in points through the two races will be paid a $5,000 to win points fund for the 2019 FASTRAK World Championship.

“What we’ve done is taken half of the National Weekly Point Fund and moved it to 2019 FASTRAK World Championship,” said Irvine, “We haven’t removed any point fund money, but rather going to make the drivers work for it a little bit more. If a driver wins the National points, wins both Friday and Saturday at Beckley, then they will take home a total of $17,000 for the season in Championship money.”

After consideration for the anticipated turn-out for the $50,000 to win, $2,050 to start 2019 FASTRAK World Championship on September 13th and 14th at Virginia Motor Speedway, it was announced that the World Challenge would be moved to a new venue. With the move, it gave FASTRAK the opportunity to tweak the format for the benefit of the drivers and create a highly anticipated event for the fans.

“This brings another level of excitement to a completely revamped FASTRAK World Challenge,” stated Irvine, “We made the decision to move the World Challenge away from the FASTRAK World Championship weekend and to a new venue, as we anticipate a large turn-out for the $50,000 to win race. This also gave us the opportunity to change the format of the World Challenge, which in years past was a members-only $5,000 to win race.”

The 2019 FASTRAK World Challenge will still be a members-only event, in which drivers must compete in a minimum of ten FASTRAK sanctioned races to be eligible. Races will only count for members once they have submitted their membership to FASTRAK. The number of races required could be adjusted, based on the number of rain-outs across all FASTRAK sanctioned race tracks.

“We came up with a formula last year, based on the percentage of rain outs across all of our weekly tracks, to adjust the number of races required to be eligible for the FASTRAK World Challenge,” continued Irvine, “Any change to the number will be announced in mid-July, which will give drivers roughly a month to reach the number of required races.”

I want us to be the best at what we do regardless if its FASTRAK or ULTIMATE and won’t accept anything less. It’s what this high-octane sport requires. Do what you do and do it well. It’s the code we live by.”

“DJ and his family had lunch with Mary Kay and I over the holidays and discussed this. I asked him simply are you ready? He assured me he was so now it’s his baby and now it’s official. We have some incredible people in this company. Our Regional Directors, our employees full and part time, our sponsors, tracks and especially our fans from Dallas Texas to New York all the way to Florida are all the best. Somehow, I woke up one day and we have over 50 employees full and part time. I know it’s been 15 years but really it doesn’t seem that long. 2019 is year 16 for the company. It’s in great financial shape, great sponsor shape, the TV deal is set up now and our staff has everything in place to take it through the next 15 years and even more. I will rest well knowing all is well for a little company that started in 2004 with only the idea of crate late model racing. The first crate race had a whopping 5 cars and this past season we had 778 different teams race with us, keeping it mind that’s nothing but late models also. Things truly are good for FASTRAK and ULTIMATE in 2019.”

The upcoming 2019 is set to be a great season for all of FASTRAK Companies International. The 2019 FASTRAK World Championship will pay a record-shattering $50,000 to win and $2,050 to start at Virginia Motor Speedway on September 13th and 14th. ULTIMATE will open its fifth touring region, the ULTIMATE Deep South, in April. All regions will be visiting new tracks in 2019 and more tracks will be announced as FASTRAK Weekly tracks in the coming weeks.

“I can’t thank Stan enough for everything he’s done for this sport,” said Irvine, “It has been great to learn from him over the past two years, and I’m looking forward to the future of this company. We are going to work tirelessly to move forward into the future and embrace new technologies in marketing.”

Lester will be running Volunteer Speedway beginning right away and starting a new software company for the wholesale automobile business, along with a new plastics engineering firm. He will also continue to handle the marketing and financial end of FASTRAK Companies International for both FASTRAK and ULTIMATE.

AFCO INTRODUCES NEWS CRATE SPEC SHOCK SERIES FOR CRATE LATE MODELS

CARNESVILLE, GA - AFCO, who for over 30 years has been an industry leader in racing suspension technology, has worked with drivers from the FASTRAK Racing Series to produce a great spec shock package for Crate Late Models. It is a true “racing shock”, with gas pressure and a Schrader valve and features a tamper-proof enclosure system, all for a great retail price of only $186.99. There are standard valve code and fitment options for the four corners, plus an optional right front and left rear, which should satisfy any customer’s needs.

The AFCO Crate Series spec shock is based off AFCO’s popular 27 series shock. With thousands built every year, these shocks have proven to be very consistent, durable, and repeatable. Because each part number uses the same set of components for every production run, and because the performance specifications are consistent and repeatable, this line of shocks is easy to validate by a single dyno test on an approved dyno. The AFCO Crate Series shock is an economy platform that is inexpensive to maintain for the racer. The average rebuild cost at the end of the season is $50 for labor, oil, and seals. Should the racer need more extensive service, quick repair services are available from AFCO and Revolution Shocks. Low up front and maintenance costs, plus rendering the shocks tamper proof to eliminate high customization fees, makes this an ideal platform for the most cost conscious racers.

“I know I have been telling all of our teams and tracks for two years we are going to do something about shocks,” said FASTRAK Founder Stan Lester, “they have expected it before now, but our priority was making sure we gave them the correct product. Our policy, from day one, has been that I will be involved in the testing process to see it for myself,” continued Lester, “That allows me to look at our teams face to face and say this is the right choice. We have always done testing this way and always will as long as I am involved. The last thing we wanted to do was take a half-worked effort as a solution. I believe 100% this is the correct solution to a very complicated problem.”

Both companies have been working together since December of 2017 to come up with a viable option. During the 2018 season, there have been multiple test sessions at Toccoa Raceway, Senoia Raceway and Virginia Motor Speedway. Drivers from the FASTRAK Racing Series and others have participated in the tests. The drivers’ names will be kept confidential as to protect them from any possible sponsor backlash.

“As the leader in Crate Late Model racing in the United States, FASTRAK understood the magnitude of this project,” said FASTRAK General Manager DJ Irvine, “We not only wanted to take our time and get this right for all teams, but for all teams across the nation. Stan (Lester) takes that responsibility very serious as he realizes this could affect the entire country, not just FASTRAK. The folks from AFCO took it just as seriously as we did. No one involved was going to settle for something that didn’t work.”

AFCO Crate Spec Shock Series testing highlights

• Tests held at Toccoa Raceway, Senoia Raceway, and Virginia Motor Speedway

• Tested on cars 2014-2018

• Driver at Toccoa picked up three tenths by switching from canisters to AFCO Crate Spec shock

• At Toccoa lap times ranged consistently from 13.01 to 13.04. Two tents off fastest lap times.

• Two tenths off fastest lap times at Senoia Raceway

• At VMS: Both drivers on 40-lap used FT200 tires. Took their shocks off the car and bolted on AFCO Crate Spec Shocks. One driver identical lap times to feature. One driver two tents faster.

• All cars tested with 8” spoiler and standard weight

“It was actually pretty funny,” said Clarke Sawyer, General Manager of Virginia Motor Speedway, “After they came in the first time and we looked over the lap times, everyone sort of looked at each other in utter disbelief. These guys were on 40-lap old tires, and just took their stuff off and bolted on the AFCOs,” continued Sawyer, “I had been talking with Stan and tracking the results of the other tests but still wondered what they would do here at VMS. I stood there and watched in myself, no adjustments just bolt on and go. You had to be there to see everyone’s reaction. It really was hilarious.”

The shocks will feature tamper-proof screws. The screws can only be removed using a serialized key from AFCO and Revolution Shocks. This is a “sealed shock” program, which will eliminate the need for custom valving. The AFCO Crate Spec Shock Series is expected to be available in January.

“Obviously, we are going to get some push back from other shock companies and tuners,” said Irvine, “We know that’s coming and that’s why we have kept this quiet. It’s no secret that shocks have become a hot-button issue in our sport. It’s become a deterrent to some people getting into or staying in the sport. We have been forced to do something about after seeing longtime car owners and drivers leave the sport and dwindling car counts at local tracks. We had a team owner tell us last year that he was getting out simply because of shocks. He said he would spend $10,000 on shocks one month and then a month later those were in a bucket in the corner of the shop and he was out buying the newest technology on the market. It’s like he told us “It’s not that I can’t afford it, it’s just that I am not dumb enough to keep doing it over and over.”

The AFCO Crate Spec Shock Series will be introduced into FASTRAK in 2019 as an optional package. Drivers utilizing the AFCO Crate Spec Shock Series in all location on the car will be given a 50-pound weight break and able to have up to a 10” spoiler. Drivers and team owners are encouraged to stop by the AFCO booth at PRI in Indianapolis December 6th through 8th to learn more about the AFCO Crate Spec Shock Series.
