Davenport Wins at WVMS for Another $10,000 Payday
Mineral Wells, W. Va. – Jonathan Davenport earned another $10,000 payday Saturday night by winning the West Virginia State Championship at West Virginia Motor Speedway. The Blairsville, Ga., driver started the FASTRAK National Touring event from the sixth position and passed Mike Pegher Jr., of Cranberry, Pa., for the lead midway through the 50-lap race.
David Smith of Inman, S.C., advanced from his 10th-place starting position to finish second, while Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., finished third. Kenny Peoples of Rural Retreat, Va., finished fourth ahead of Mark Banal of St. Clairsville, Ohio in the fifth position.
The event attracted 37 of the top FASTRAK drivers from across the country to the high-banked, 5/8-mile oval.
