– Exciting Events Including Late Model Parade and Fireworks to Help Celebrate Return

CARNESVILLE, Ga. (June 16, 2010) – After more than three years without a series race at Toccoa Speedway, The Old Man’s Garage FASTRAK Southeast Late Model Series will make its return to Georgia’s oldest dirt track Saturday night for the running of the inaugural Georgia Late Model Shootout.

To celebrate FASTRAK’s return to Toccoa Speedway, series officials and track promoter David Pritchett have organized an exciting afternoon of activities in the town of Toccoa prior to Saturday night’s race. There will be an autograph session from 2-4 pm in the Quality Foods parking lot in the Town Plaza Shopping Center, where fans will have a chance to meet their favorite drivers and get an up-close look at the race cars. Following the autograph session, the drivers will parade their sleek Late Model race cars down Highway 17 all the way to Toccoa Speedway.

“We’re really excited to have the FASTRAK Southeast Series back at Toccoa Speedway this weekend,” said Pritchett. “With it being three years since the series was last here, we wanted to celebrate their return in a big way. We also wanted to do something that the fans and the drivers would all enjoy. Hopefully the whole community will come out Saturday to meet the drivers and enjoy the parade.”

Racing action gets underway at Toccoa at 7:30 pm. The event will include a full slate of time trials, heat races and a 30-lap, $3,000-to-win feature race for the FASTRAK Late Models, as well as racing in Toccoa’s local divisions. Other activities to be held Saturday night include a fireworks show and fan drawings. One lucky fan will be chosen to be the Grand Marshall for the race. He or she will get to wave the green flag from the flag stand at the start of the FASTRAK feature race. Two other fans will get to ride in the official FASTRAK Pace Truck while it leads the field around the track during FASTRAK’s famous four-wide salute.

Royce Bray, of Hull, Ga., leads the Old Man’s Garage FASTRAK Southeast Series standings going into the event. David Smith, of Inman, S.C., is just three points behind Bray in second, with rookie driver Blake Bentley, of Duncan, S.C. in third. Jonathan Taylor, of Toccoa, leads a strong group of local drivers looking to defend their home track against the touring stars of FASTRAK.

“This race should be a great show,” Pritchett said. “The FASTRAK series has some of the best drivers in the country, but Toccoa has some of the best local drivers of any race track. It’ll be interesting to see how our local guys do up against the touring guys. I think it will be really close and it should make for a great race.”

General admission tickets are just $18. Fans can pick up coupons for $3 off admission at businesses in the Toccoa area. Coupons will also be available at the autograph session Saturday afternoon. Tickets are $10 for seniors.
