FASTRAK Triple Crown on the Line Tonight at Wythe – Charlotte Race to be Rescheduled
Rural Retreat, Va. (May 29, 2010) – With the postponement of Friday night’s Old Man’s Garage FASTRAK Southeast Series race at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, the inaugural NOS Energy Drink FASTRAK Triple Crown Championship will now come down to one night of action-packed racing tonight at Wythe Raceway.
Drivers will compete in two complete shows at the high-banked, half-mile clay oval in Rural Retreat, Va., including two sets of time trails and heat races and two $1,500-to-win, 25-lap features. Points will be awarded for each of the night’s feature races, with the driver earning the most points being crowned the inaugural Triple Crown Champion. He or she will be giving a crown, robe and scepter and will earn a trophy adorned with a crown.
“It was unfortunate that last night’s race at Charlotte was rained out,” said FASTRAK founder and CEO Stan Lester. “Charlotte is always a big race for our drivers, our fans and our sponsors. But now, that makes tonight’s races at Wythe all that much more important. I know our drivers are going to go hard after that crown and the beautiful trophy.”
Royce Bray leads the FASTRAK touring drivers into Wythe tonight to take on the speedway’s strong contingent of local racers. Bray currently holds the top spot in the series standings, just four points ahead of David Smith. Blake Bentley, who leads the MySmokinRide.com Rookie of the Year standings, is third in the series standings.
Gates open today at 2 pm, with racing action is set to begin at 7.
The Sleep Inn of Wytheville is the host hotel for tonight’s race. Use the code “fast” to get a special discounted rate on rooms. Take exit 72 off Hwy 87 to exit 41 off I-77 to get to the hotel.
If you can’t make it to tonight’s race, listen live on FASTRAK Radio Powered by NOS as Doc Love on Tony Stevens call the action. You can access FASTRAK Radio on the new FASTRAK website at www.fastrakracing.com/fastrakradio
While the Triple Crown will come to an end tonight, the race at Charlotte will be rescheduled for a later date. FASTRAK officials and management at The Dirt Track at Charlotte will work together to determine a suitable date for the event and will make an announcement in the near future.
“We’ve already spoken with the folks at Charlotte about rescheduling last night’s race,” said Lester. “While we haven’t determined the date yet, we do know that there will be a make-up race sometime this year. We don’t have any details at this time, but we’re going to do our best to make sure the make-up race is even bigger and better than what we had planned for Friday night.”
Fans with tickets to Friday night’s race that wish to get a rain check for the make-up race should contact the Charlotte Motor Speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS.
